Wall Township is a Monmouth County township of about 31.7 square miles, formed by the Legislature in 1851 from part of Howell Township. It has no single ZIP code. The Census Bureau's ZIP-area files put about 37 percent of its land in 07719 and a quarter in 07727, with most of the rest split between 07753, 08736 and 08720. Allenwood and West Belmar are census-designated places inside the township, and Glendola and Allaire are among its older localities.
Wall's history is on its township seal, which shows the Allaire Iron Furnace of 1788, the Allgor-Kittell Blacksmith Shop, the Marconi Tower and the Diana Radar Tower. In January 2006 it became the first Preserve America Community designated in New Jersey. Allaire Village dates to 1822, when James P. Allaire bought the Howell Works, and the land later went to the state as Allaire State Park. The Army bought the old Marconi wireless site in November 1941 and named it Camp Evans; the Camp Evans Historic District on Marconi Road was added to the National Register in 2002. The Allgor-Barkalow Homestead on New Bedford Road, now the Old Wall Historical Society's museum, has been listed since 1984, and the Manasquan Friends Meetinghouse and Burying Ground since 1992. We did not find a township historic preservation commission or a local historic district, so if your house is one of the listed properties or sits beside one, ask the township before exterior work starts.
The housing is a mix of eras rather than one wave. The Census Bureau's American Community Survey for 2020 to 2024 counts about 10,400 homes in Wall and makes the 1990s the busiest single decade, at 21 percent. Even so, 55 percent were built before 1980, and 11 percent date from 1939 or earlier. In practice that means 1990s colonials whose builder trim and fascia are on their second or third repaint, next to postwar houses where old oil-based coats need a bonding primer before latex will hold. Garages, basements and workshops are where our epoxy floor coatings go, and inside we repaint whole floors and refinish kitchen cabinets with a sprayed enamel.
Because more than half the township's homes are older than 1980, the federal lead rule comes into most estimates here. Under the EPA's Renovation, Repair and Painting rule, a paid contractor who disturbs paint on a house built before 1978 must be certified unless the work stays within six square feet per room inside or twenty square feet outside. NJ Painting Co. is not EPA Lead-Safe Certified, so a Wall job that needs more scraping or sanding than that belongs with a certified firm, and we will point that out when we look at the house.
We finish in premium Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams products. NJ Painting Co. is family-owned and based in Morganville, and every Wall Township estimate is free and in writing.
