Waretown is the main community in Ocean Township, the Ocean County one, not the township of the same name in Monmouth County. Most people simply call the whole place Waretown. It takes its name from Abraham Weair, who came here around 1737 with a group of Rogerine Baptists and stayed to run a sawmill after the colony moved on. For most of its history it was a bay town of fishing, gunning, boatbuilding and cranberry bogs, between Forked River to the north and Barnegat to the south. Route 9 runs through the middle, the Garden State Parkway has an exit here, and Albert Music Hall keeps the Pine Barrens music tradition alive on Saturday nights. A free estimate in Waretown starts with which side of Route 9 you are on, because the bay side and the pine side are hard on paint in different ways.
East of Route 9, the streets closest to the water get the full weather off Barnegat Bay: salt, humidity, and wind across open water. Salt residue on siding will lift a new coat of paint, so we wash the walls and let them dry before scraping or priming. The bay-facing walls are scoped separately from the sheltered sides because they wear far faster, and we put the toughest finish on the sills, rails and trim tops where water sits. If your house has been raised since Superstorm Sandy, a job that used to be done from a stepladder now needs proper staging, and we plan for that in the estimate.
West of Route 9 the township reaches into the Pinelands, and the problem is shade and damp. North walls under pitch pine and oak stay wet for days after rain, mildew comes back quickly on any surface painted without cleaning, and soft wood shows up at fascia ends and sill joints. We wash and treat mildew, let the wood dry properly, replace rot instead of caulking around it, and use mildew-resistant premium Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams finishes on those walls. Much of the housing on both sides of the highway is ranches and cottages from the 1950s through the 1980s, and anything built before 1978 gets lead-safe handling from us: containment, wet scraping, HEPA cleanup and a site swept every day.
Inside, Waretown homes are a mix of year-round houses and seasonal places, and both need crews who turn up when they say, work clean, and use low-odor paint so rooms can be used that evening. We repaint interiors, refinish kitchen cabinets to a factory-smooth finish without the cost of replacement, refinish and install hardwood, and pour epoxy garage floors that stand up to sand and winter salt. NJ Painting Co. is family-owned and based in Morganville, licensed and fully insured, with more than twenty years in the trade. Every Waretown estimate is free, includes a color consultation, and the work carries a two-year workmanship warranty.
