The homes along Rumson's rivers and lanes were built to last generations, and painting them is restoration work as much as decoration. Salt air off the Navesink and the Shrewsbury is relentless on exterior finishes, so our crews strip back to sound surfaces where needed and build coating systems from premium Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams products engineered for coastal exposure. Done right, the work protects the house, not just its appearance.
Inside Rumson's larger homes, the details carry the day. We handle interior painting with the patience original millwork deserves, and our cabinet refinishing gives established kitchens a hand-finished result that suits the room around it. As a family-owned Monmouth County company, we are used to working in occupied homes with care and discretion. Estimates are free, and we are glad to talk through phasing on bigger projects.
Rumson, incorporated as a borough in 1907, sits on a peninsula with the Navesink River to the north and the Shrewsbury River to the south, and Sea Bright and the ocean just across the water to the east. The borough grew as a district of large country estates around the turn of the twentieth century, and many of the houses on its riverfront roads and inland lanes still date from that period: shingle-style and colonial revival houses with long runs of trim, wood windows, porches and outbuildings. Newer houses built at a similar scale fill in between them. On the river-facing walls, wind and damp off open water wear paint much faster than on the sheltered sides, so we scope those faces separately, wash and dry before prep, and save the toughest trim finish for sills, rails and cornice returns. Pre-1978 paint on the older houses gets full lead-safe handling, and we bond-prime over old oil before any modern finish goes on.
