Secaucus sits in the New Jersey Meadowlands, with the Hackensack River along its western side and creeks and marsh around much of the rest. It became a borough in 1900 and a town in 1917, and about twenty-two thousand people lived there at the 2020 census. For a long time it was farm country, famous for its pig farms, which held nearly a quarter of a million pigs during the Second World War before the last ones closed in the late 1950s. Today it has the highest share of open space in Hudson County alongside a large commercial district: Harmon Meadow and the Plaza area with their hotels, retail and offices, warehouse and distribution buildings for logistics firms, and Secaucus Junction, the NJ Transit station that opened in 2003.
Commercial buildings are a large part of what gets painted here. Warehouses, offices, hotels and retail spaces need work that does not interrupt the business, so we plan it around shifts, deliveries and guests, often working evenings or weekends. Large interiors get painted section by section so operations keep moving. Exterior work on commercial buildings means washing and preparing block, metal and stucco surfaces properly before coating them, because adhesion fails on dirty or chalked surfaces no matter how good the paint is. Inside, warehouse and back-of-house floors can get an epoxy coating chosen for forklift traffic and easy cleaning, with the concrete ground and repaired first.
The residential side of Secaucus is mostly single-family and two-family houses, from older homes near the town center to capes, ranches, split-levels and colonials, plus the Harmon Cove townhouses and high-rise buildings that went up from the 1970s and newer apartment complexes since. The low, flat land and the marsh around it keep the air damp, so exterior paint on shaded walls tends to collect mildew. We wash and treat it before priming, use mildew-resistant finishes, and check wood trim at sills and the bottoms of door casings for rot. Houses built before 1978 get lead-safe prep as standard.
Inside homes and condos, we repaint walls, ceilings and trim, refinish kitchen cabinets with a sprayed enamel, refinish hardwood floors, and coat garages in epoxy. NJ Painting Co. is a family-owned company based in Morganville in Monmouth County, and we travel to Secaucus for both residential and commercial jobs. We are licensed and fully insured, every estimate is free and written, and the work carries a two-year workmanship warranty.
