Interior & Exterior Painting in Point Pleasant

Point Pleasant is an Ocean County borough with one ZIP code, 08742, and it is a separate town from its neighbor Point Pleasant Beach. It was carved out of Brick Township and incorporated as a borough in 1920. Water defines its edges: the Manasquan River runs along the north side, Beaver Dam Creek forms the southern boundary, and Point Pleasant Beach and Bay Head lie to the east. The Point Pleasant Canal, the northernmost leg of the Intracoastal Waterway, cuts the borough in two. Of its 4.17 square miles, about two-thirds of a square mile is water.

Most of the housing is postwar. The Census Bureau's American Community Survey for 2020 to 2024 counts about 8,700 homes in the borough, and the 1950s were the busiest decade, with 24 percent of them. The 1960s added 16 percent and the 1980s 17 percent. In all, 64 percent were built before 1980, and only about 7 percent date from 1939 or earlier. Houses of that age have usually been repainted many times, often with oil-based coats under later latex, which is why we test adhesion and use a bonding primer where the old film is glossy or chalky.

Being surrounded by river, creek and canal shapes the outside work. Damp air off the water feeds mildew on north walls and under eaves, and windblown salt and sand wear trim and doors faster than inland. We wash, let the wall dry, scrape to sound paint, caulk open joints and prime bare wood before premium Sherwin-Williams or Benjamin Moore exterior coatings. We did not find a borough historic preservation commission or local district, and the county's National Register listings include none in the borough, so exterior colors are the owner's call unless a condominium or homeowners' association sets its own rules.

For the 64 percent built before 1980, the federal lead rule applies. Where paid work on a pre-1978 home disturbs more than six square feet of paint in a room or more than twenty square feet on the outside, the EPA's Renovation, Repair and Painting rule requires a certified firm. NJ Painting Co. is not EPA Lead-Safe Certified. When a Point Pleasant job goes past those limits, we will say at the estimate that a certified contractor is needed for that part.

Inside, we repaint living spaces, trim and stairways, and refinish cabinets in kitchens that are sound but dated. NJ Painting Co. is family-owned, based in Morganville, and every Point Pleasant estimate is free.

We also have dedicated pages on kitchen cabinet refinishing in Ocean County, exterior painting in Ocean County and interior painting in Ocean County.

“I can't say enough about Matthew, Mustafa, Fico et al. They were considerate, professional, and some of the greatest people I've had the pleasure of meeting. They treated my home like their own. They were patient with my requests and so pleasant to work with. I had gotten 3 different estimates for the work, they were all in the same ballpark, however NJ Painting offered a free consultation with an interior designer that was incredible. I went with all her suggestions and my house looks great! I could not be more satisfied with the outcome.”

“What a great experience! I was moving into my new home and needed the painting done prior to the move. I called NJ Painting on a Thursday and they came out, provided a great price, and then completed the entire job in one day. Super responsive. Professional workmanship. Will absolutely use them and refer to others.”

No. Point Pleasant is its own borough, formed from Brick Township in 1920, with the ZIP code 08742. Point Pleasant Beach is a separate borough to its east. Point Pleasant runs from the Manasquan River on the north to Beaver Dam Creek on the south, and the Point Pleasant Canal, part of the Intracoastal Waterway, runs through the middle of it.

Often decades of it. The 2020 to 2024 American Community Survey dates 24 percent of the borough's roughly 8,700 homes to the 1950s, and 64 percent to before 1980. Many have oil-based coats under later latex, so we check adhesion and use a bonding primer where needed. On pre-1978 houses the EPA lead rule limits how much paint an uncertified firm like ours can disturb.
